Subluxation Degeneration

Before we explain subluxation degeneration, it will be essential to understand what a subluxation is and how it effects your health.

Understand that your spinal column is made up of several bones stacking up on top of each other. These bones form a tunnel in which the spinal cord and nerves are housed and protected.

Normally your spinal column should be straight from the front and "S" shaped from the side. A subluxation is when our spines are not straight or when the spine doesn't have the natural "S" shaped curve from the side.

In simpler terms, a subluxation is a shift or misalignment in the spine that can then interferes with your nervous system. You can see an image of a subluxation to the left.

Because your nervous system controls everything, a subluxation can have many harmful effects on your health. See the chart to the left. Here you can see possible effects on your nervous system and if left long enough, the symptoms that could arise.

The final problem of subluxation is the stress it causes on your joints. When you have a misaligned (subluxated) vertebrae, you increase the loading on the joints. The result is the soft tissues and bone will begin to degenerate over time. This is why it is essential you have children checked as soon as possible for subluxation. The chart below shows the progression of degeneration. The x-rays below are x-rays taken of the side of the neck. The first is a normal neck. The next one is a subluxated neck. You notice it is flattened. The third x-ray is now reversed and you can see in the 4th and 5th x-rays the degeneration process is continuing.
